We’re proud to be supporting the Calderdale and Kirklees branch of Macmillan Cancer Support this month.
Macmillan are a source of support, helping with all the things that people affected by cancer want and need, not only patients who live with cancer, they also help carers, families and communities. Macmillan fund nurses and other specialist health care professionals and build cancer care centres.
The local committee was founded over 30 years ago and still has a founder member among them. They aim to raise between £25,000 and £30,000 each year, all of which is used to help cancer patients and their families in the Calderdale and Kirklees area. This money is raised mainly from supermarket collections, galas, coffee mornings and events of many types as well as donations from funerals and memoriam donations.
The 26th edition of their annual Mary Grace Quiz will be on sale on their table in store on Fridays and Saturdays during October.
The local committee are looking for any help they can get with collections and other fundraising events. It’s not a big commitment, just an occasional hour or so. They’d love to hear from you if you can spare a little time.
