Accounts Assistant

To work in our busy office

37.5 hours per week including Saturdays

The role

Reporting to the office manager your role will be crucial in carrying out administrative and accounting duties so that all records are accurate and deadlines are met.

Main responsibilities:

  • Cash handling and reconciliation
  • Purchase ledger and invoicing procedures
  • Sales ledger enquiries are resolved
  • Cashing up procedures are accurately and speedily implemented
  • Maintain petty cash records
  • Administering customer and staff accounts
  • Maintaining the customer database
  • Producing corporate signage for use throughout the store
  • Ordering and monitoring stationery supplies

The person

You will:

  • Have come from a financial/administrative background
  • Be customer and business focussed
  • Be extremely confident using computer systems for data entry, signage and other
  • Be able to demonstrate excellent communication and organisational skills
  • Be able to work under pressure
  • Be self-motivated
  • Be expected to work flexible hours including overtime to meet the business needs

Part time Sales Assistants

16 hours including Saturday

Responsibilities

Working as part of the sales team you will be able to offer outstanding customer service and develop customer loyalty through:

  • Understanding and demonstrating customer care and high levels of customer service both on the sales floor and till point
  • Displaying good listening skills, identifying customer needs and responding to them quickly, using this feedback to suggest new product lines
  • Showing a genuine interest in other people and willingness to help
  • You will use your selling skills to ensure sales are maximised
  • Providing and continuously developing your product knowledge
  • General housekeeping
  • Cashiering
  • Showing flexibility and willingness to meet shop needs during the period of employment regarding hours, work and duties
  • Supporting and helping colleagues with their work and getting involved in day-to-day activities as and when required
  • Actively supporting and communicating with colleagues, customers and managers

You will have

  • Previous work experience in a similar environment would be desirable but not essential as training will be given
  • Good numeracy, written and spoken English skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work flexible hours including overtime to meet the business needs

Part time Sales Assistants (Piece Hall)

8 hours Saturday and 8 hours Sunday

For our brand new homewares shop in the Piece Hall

Since 1779, The Piece Hall has stood proudly at the heart of Halifax. Originally built to support the trading of ‘pieces’ of cloth, it has been a meeting point of Halifax’s commercial, civic and cultural life for almost 250 years. In an ambitious and exciting new chapter, it is to be reimagined as a new cultural and commercial centre.

The Grade I listed Piece Hall, Halifax is a rare and precious thing, an architectural and cultural phenomenon which is absolutely unique.

The Piece Hall was originally built for trade, now it will be a shopping destination like no other, and you can be a part of it!

Restaurant Supervisor

35 hours to include Saturdays

This role involves assisting our Restaurant Manager in running our very busy restaurant to a very high service standard.

Your responsibilities will include

  • Training, motivating and developing the team to a high standard
  • Managing rotas, tasks and holidays
  • Helping to manage the restaurant in the Manager’s absence
  • Exceeding customer expectations at all times
  • Maintaining high levels of cleanliness and standards throughout
  • Due diligence and compliance with all Health and Safety and food hygiene requirements
  • Leading positively by example
  • Actively marketing and promoting the restaurant

The ideal candidate

  • You will have previous experience of working in a high volume restaurant
  • You will have a passion for hospitality, great quality fresh food, customers and people
  • You must be able to demonstrate an ability to manage a team by coaching, developing and motivating others
  • You will be a strong ambitious individual, looking for a challenge, driven by customer service
  • You will be open minded and flexible with the ability to think outside the box
  • You will be a team player with the desire to develop yourself and those around you
  • You will have excellent customer service skills
